Junior year is crazy. Your schedule will be insane and keeping track of things will test even the most organized KAMSC student. To help provide you with the information and tools to stay on top of your coursework this year, you will be provided a Unit Agenda, complete with homework, assignment and assessment dates, at the start of each unit. Pre-load your planner or organizer with these dates. Get ahead on the homework when you can. Plan to do math each and every day. Utilize before and after school time to meet with your teacher or, at minimum, check homework.
It can be hard to watch your high-achieving student struggle, especially if it's the first time they've truly struggled. Encourage your student to reach out to their teachers, early and often - before and after school or during Open Lab are great times for this. Teachers, especially KAMSC teachers, honestly and truly expect students to ask questions and take ownership of their learning. Students should be doing math each and every day, so ask them what they've done today (or recently) and what they could do tomorrow. Follow the agenda here, or in Synergy, to see when your student is (or should be) preparing for an assessment.
