Referencing the “Gabbeh” - a tribal Persian rug, this work conveys the recent violent re-emergence of the Female Voice in Iran. The beautiful peony, the beating heart of feminine power, is shown here bounded, shrouded and confounded within the confines of the State and Institutions. The notion of Paradise on Earth is crumbling, amidst the clamour of diverse strains of new ideologies and thoughts. Will we witness its full bloom? Or will it perish in despair?
