Madrasah Aljunied Al-Islamiah is one of the oldest surviving madrasah in Singapore. This Islamic school has produced many notable alumni such as our former Muftis Uztaz Said Isa Semait and Uztaz Fatris Bakaram, and the current one Uztaz Nazirudin Nasir, as well as several religious scholars and leaders in Southeast Asia. Pak Idris has painted many heritage buildings and places in Singapore, including numerous masjid and madrasah.

Founded in 1912, Madrasah Alsagoff Al-Arabiah is the oldest madrasah in Singapore. Started as a boys' school, this Islamic institution took in girls in the 1940s and is now an all-girls school. Its compelling architecture has attracted many artists to sketch or paint it, including Pak Idris who has captured many heritage buildings and places in Singapore in watercolour.
