The Happiness Advantage

TEDxBloomington by Shawn Achor

Shawn Achor presents about positive psychology. He shares ways in which we can "Train the Brain" to "raise positivitiy in the present so the brain can experience a happy advantage." When an individual experiences a happy advantage they are "31% more productive and have an significant increase in intelligence, creativity and energy level." When we are happy "dopamine floods into our system making an indivdual happier and turns on their learning centers in the brain so they can adapt and act in the world in a different way." The following activities done at least two minutes a day for twenty one days can "rewire your brain to achieve a happy advantage."

Gratitude

Write three new things that you are grateful for this activity will help you retain being optimistic.

Journaling

Write at least one experience you had within in 24 hours so that you may relive your positive experience.

Exercise

When we exercise we are training our bodies that our behaviors matter.

Meditation

We are often busy with multi-tasking tasks in our lives. When we take the time to meditate we can focus on the task at hand.

You can take the time to give an individual

praise or thank them on a social support network.

This boosts the moral of being positive.
