Take a look below at some of the exciting things we have been doing in class!!
Splish, Splash! Investigating Our Local Awa! 🌊
We had some awesome visitors from the Whitebait Connection come to our classroom! We became freshwater scientists for the morning to find out how to recognise a healthy Awa (river). To do this, we did some cool science experiments testing different liquids to check their clarity (how clear they are) and their acidity (using pH levels). We are loving learning about how to look after our local waterways!
Awa Investagation In Action!!
Guess what? Every single week, a lucky class gets the massive responsibility of running our awesome school assembly—last week, it was our turn! 🎉
We were bursting with excitement to share our incredible creative stories and beautiful artwork with the whole school. But that wasn’t all—we took on all the big, super-important jobs to make the show happen. From flawlessly running the PowerPoint presentation and confidently speaking into the microphone, to making sure every single important part of our assembly stayed right on track, we did it all! 🚀
Everyone stepped up, smiled big, and did an absolutely spectacular job. Go Room 3! 👏👏
Today we headed out to soak up some fresh air and sunshine. We split into our groups, and our incredible Spelling Rangatira took charge! They did an amazing job guiding everyone through our important words of the week.
Kia ora whānau! Today, Room 3 stepped outside the classroom to protect our awa. As part of our commitment to whanaungatanga (connecting with our environment and each other) and kaitiakitanga (guardianship), we became active protectors of our beautiful school grounds and local environment.
Our main goal? To collect rubbish before the wind could blow it into the awa.By keeping our school grounds clean, we are helping to look after the water quality and the precious wildlife that calls our river home.
We also headed to the trees around the school boundary to set up tracking pads.
The Plan: We want to see who is visiting our trees when we aren't looking!
The Goal: We are looking forward to checking the pads to see if we have any sneaky pests lurking near our river banks!
