Element A:

Positive

• Articles supported our problem statement 

• Articles supported evidence to the harmful effects of pharmaceuticals in water

• Articles supported findings of possible solutions for pharmaceuticals in water

• Market research showed possible common contaminants in water 

• Market research showed that people are interested in a possible solution to this problem

Negative

• Studies of medical records showing pharmaceuticals in water affecting people directly would help support the idea of human impact

• More research on direct affect would help support problem more

Element B:

Positive

• Many ideas of previous solutions and patents that have disposal method ideas and treat pharmaceutical water

• Helped brainstorm ideas

• Many ideas of previous solutions and patens detected pharmaceuticals in water 

Negative

• Did not find a good solution to problem statement 

Element C: 

Positive

• Design statement, criteria, and constraints aligned with our ideas 

• Criteria was was tested and proven to work with the product

Negative

• The approach to scale our product would involve multiple versions of the product rather than a universal adaptable product.

Element D:

Positive

• Our brainstorming methods were able to include ever team members ideas and combine them in order to make a good product 

• Our design concepts were also very similar which was a good way for us know that we had the same ideas in mind and not much would contradict 

Negative

• Many changes to the sketch and the overall product itself like placement and integration given our professional feedback.

Element G: 

Positives 

• All of our materials were fairly inexpensive/ found at school

• Figuring out the code for the Arduino was fairly simple 

• Working with inventor to create the electrical housing was straightforward 

Negatives 

• We could not get the necessary sensor to detect pharmaceuticals due to cost 

• We had to reprint the door and drill larger holes due to the tolerance of the 3D print 

Element H: 

Positives 

• Tests were simple to come up with because our criteria were very specific 

Negatives

• One of our tests had to be removed 

Element I: 

Positives 

• All of our testing proved what we had hoped

• Our data was easy to interpret 

Negatives

• We did have to remove one test due to changing our design late in the game. We explained the reasons for this change.

Element J: 

Positives

• As a group we were proud of our final product

• Reactions during trade show were very enthusiastic and positive. Guests asked really good questions that we were able to answer confidently.

Negatives

• We didn't encorperate accessability for those who struggle with arthritis, color blindness or visual imparement in our design but this would be an easy change to implement.
