I grew up in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. I received a B.S. in Elementary Education with minors in Early Childhood Education and Psychology from Florida State University. I taught in Florida for 4 years before moving to Virginia in 1992. I received my M.Ed. in Counselor Education from The University of Virginia. I came to Albemarle County in 1994.
I joined the Murray staff in 2013. In addition to my role as the School Counselor, I am the 504 Coordinator, Diversity Resource Teacher, Student Council Co-Leader and I also serve as the Web Content Coordinator.
I love to travel. I finished a quest to spend time in all 50 states before I turned 50 and am now working on the Canadian Provinces. I also spend my leisure time with reading and scrap-booking I am a huge football and baseball fan and follow the FSU Seminoles, the Carolina Panthers, and the Detroit Tigers very closely.
I grew up in San Diego, California where I attended the University of California San Diego (BA) and San Diego State University (MS). I earned my master’s degree in counseling with a specialization in family therapy. I enjoyed working as a family therapist for 15 years before pursuing my school counseling certification through the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. I have loved working with students and families as a school counselor and mental health professional with ACPS for the last 7 years.
Throughout college I always made it a point to find fun jobs- from an adventure tour guide to ballet teacher and everything in between. I still do my best to work these things into my busy life with our family- four kids, 2 dogs and a cat. I love to spend time outdoors, travel, dabble with DIY projects and find every excuse to visit my sister in Montana.
I am really excited to be joining the Murray team!
