Normally on the first day of the academic school week, our cadets wear one out of a variety of our AFJROTC uniforms. These uniforms are similar to those that United States Airmen have worn and are wearing to this day, and we have the honor of wearing the same uniform that the brave men and women who have put their lives on the line for this country wear, and we wear them proudly.
In their flights, our cadets go through a formal uniform inspection followed by current events or drill practice.
Service Dress (one of the varieties of the Blues uniform) is a distinguished uniform worn by airmen ever since the Air Force broke off from the Army and became its own branch in 1949. Service Dress mainly consists of a blue jacket and matching trousers worn with a light blue shirt and a blue tie/tab.
This uniform is a variation of the blues uniform, consisting (mainly) of a lightweight blue jacket for colder weather, matching trousers, a light blue shirt, and either with a tie/tab or without.
This is another variation of the Blues uniform, in which there is no jacket. Consists mainly of a light blue shirt, blue trousers, and either with a tie/tab or without.
The OCP, or Operational Camouflage Pattern, is the other of the two combat uniforms authorized in AFJROTC. The OCP is a camouflage combat uniform currently used by most airmen in the Air Force, as well as cadets in AFJROTC! Although, you will see that normally the senior ranking cadets in our corps wear these.
The Flight Suit is a full-body garment usually worn by aviators and those specialized in aviation. The only cadets that are authorized to wear these must either be enrolled in AFJROTC Aviation Honors Ground School, completed ground school or earned their private pilot's license.
The Exhibition uniform is a version of the blues uniforms, which will only be worn by cadets participating in ceremonies (Drill Team, Color Guard, Saber Team, etc.). This uniform will usually have an ascot worn in place of a tie/tab, and with a cover (our unit likes using berets)
The Semi-Formal Uniform is the uniform worn (almost exclusively) during dining-outs, like our annual Military Ball. This uniform consists (mainly) of the blue jacket worn in Service Dress, matching trousers, a white button-up shirt, either a tie or a bowtie, and no cover. Semi-Formal is also one of the uniforms where cadets may wear their medals that they have earned!
