Algebra
Course Description
Placement is based on NWEA scores, Smarter Balance scores, Math grades, Algebra readiness exam, and Seventh grade teacher recommendations. Algebra I is a one-year course that will study mathematical operations with directed numbers and problem solving with linear equations and inequalities. This course also explores the use of linear algebra, systems, and quadratics to model and solve real world problems as well as introduce basic probability and statistic concepts. This course also explores the use of the laws of exponents and operations with rational and irrational values. This course is the same as the high school course and upon satisfactory completion the Algebra I credit will be placed on their high school transcript.
Grading Scale
A = 93-100 B= 86-92 C= 78-85 D= 70-77 U= 69 and below
Learning work will account for 30% of your grade. Learning work is graded on completion or participation. This includes assignments from the book, activities, and practice tests.
Work will be posted on Google Classroom, physical copies (if available) will be hung in the back of the classroom.
Your responsible for getting work. Ask if your unable to obtain.
Tests and Quizzes will account for 70% of your grade. Tests are given at the end of the chapter. A summative test will be given at the end of the year.
