8th Grade Math
Course Description
By the end of the eighth grade, students should be able to understand, use, and connect a variety of
techniques to solve equations and inequalities in applied contexts. They should understand the meaning of variables, expressions, equations, and inequalities, and apply their understanding to building models for various situations. Students should be able to evaluate, graph, and interpret functions and analyze their behavior with graphs, tables and other data. Students should be able to gather, analyze and display statistical data. They should be able to apply various measurement techniques to solve practical problems.
Grading Scale
A = 93-100 B= 86-92 C= 78-85 D= 70-77 U= 69 and below
Learning work will account for 40% of your grade. Learning work is graded on completion or participation. Points will be given for effort and progress. This includes assignments from the book, activities, and practice tests.
Work will be posted on Google Classroom, physical copies (if available) will be hung in the back of the class.
Your responsible for getting work. Ask if your unable to obtain.
Notes and Bell Ringer will account for 10% of your grade. Notes are mandatory.
Tests and Quizzes will account for 50% of your grade. Tests are given at the end of the chapter.
