Sturgis Brown High School is the home of the Scoopers! Many people ask where we arrived at this name for our mascot, here is a brief history: Scooper was derived from the nickname given to Sturgis by the cavalrymen stationed at Fort Meade in the late 1800s. Cavalrymen, who claimed they were "scooped" every payday by the merchants of Sturgis, began to refer to Sturgis as Scooptown. Merchants didn't mind the nickname. They claimed that the cavalrymen spent so much money in Sturgis that it could be "scooped" from the streets. Scoopers was later adopted by Sturgis High School as its official team name, and in 1987, Scooper Sam became the official mascot.
Registration for 2023-2024 School Year
Everything you need is on this tab to register your classes for the 2023-2024 school year. Below you will find the Registration Course Handbook for the 2023-2024 School Year, Class Registration Forms, and Supplemental Forms required for taking some classes. You may want to print your class registration form to ensure you are registering for classes you are qualified to take.
Registration Directions for 2023-2024 School Year
Due by March 27, 2023
Once you have reviewed the class registration book and chosen classes you wish to take for the 2023-2024 school year, go to Infinite Campus Student portal by clicking on the link above.
Sign into Infinite Campus with your user name and password.
Once you are in your student portal, on the left side of the screen, you will see the Course Registration link for the 2023-2024 school year. Click on this link.
Use the course search tab to find and select elective courses you wish to take. You can search by course name or by course number (your required classes will already be pre-loaded). Be sure that you check the pre-requisites. Also, if your chosen course requires additional permission forms, be sure to attach the completed and signed forms. If required forms are not attached, your request will be removed and replaced with one of your alternative classes.
Once you find the course you want, at the bottom of the course description, you will have two choices. Request this course or request as an alternative. You will need 14 of 16 total units (including any pre-loaded required), and 2 full credits of alternatives. Once you click the requested courses on the left side of the screen, the course will appear under requested courses on the left side of the screen. If you make a mistake or change your mind, simply click on the course and you will have the option to drop the request.
If you have any special requests, such as AP or honors courses or specific period for internship and/or dual enrollment, please print your form, write your requests and return the form to your counselor. We will do our very best to meet your request, however, there are no guarantees.
Once you have printed the form, have parents sign the registration form, and return the form to your counselor. REGISTRATION FORMS MUST BE SIGNED BY A PARENT!
