Welcome to my page! I am so happy you are here!

My name is Sarah Sayavong, born and raised in Sioux City, IA. I am a mother of 3 wonderful children. A counselor/teacher to over 300. I love being with my family, playing board games, watching movies, and traveling. I love helping students find their way and supporting them on their adventure through life.

I always knew I wanted to help others. At first, I wanted to be a police officer, a K9 officer to be exact. I joined the Woodbury County Reserves and was a Reserve Deputy for 2 years. I started a job at a youth shelter and found my true calling, helping young people.

I graduated with my Associates in Police Science from Western Iowa Tech. Upon graduation, I started working for Juvenile Court in Sioux City, IA.  I remained with Juvenile Court Services for 8 years. At Juvenile court I was a school liaison officer. I was promoted to the program director of an alternative school. While working with students I came to see that their happiness and success was my passion.

While working at Juvenile Court I obtained a Masters in Criminal Justice Administration from Bellevue University in Nebraska with the goal of becoming a juvenile probation officer. I am inpatient and it was taking to long :). I then enrolled in the Professional School Counseling program at Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, IA. It was an amazing program. I graduated and started looking for the perfect fit!

My path brought me here to the Vermillion School District. What an amazing community Vermillion is! The school districts compassion for helping students amazes me daily.

I'm goofy, I'm bubbly, & sometimes I don't get it. What I lack in words and experience, I make up in boat loads of genuine love. I am here to help!

Sincerely,

Ms. Sayavong
