Refractions is under the direction of Megan Heezen and Tim Stockman and is choreographed by Alex Strawn. Refractions is a mixed group of 43 auditioned students, grades 6-8, from Harrisburg North Middle School. Our show is entitled “Another Day at the Office” and follows business people as they embark on a day of working, money-making, and having fun! Sit back, relax, and welcome, Refractions!

Radiance is a treble-only group of 37 auditioned students, grades 6-8 from Harrisburg North Middle School. Our show is entitled “Go-Go” and follows girls as they dance their way through life! Unity is the auditioned show choir from Ben Reifel Middle School. Unity rehearses two mornings a week. The name Unity was chosen because it is one of our core values at Ben Reifel Middle School. In addition to performing at Best of Show each year, Unity enjoys performing for Stampede games, concerts, and our annual tour to elementary schools.
This is year’s show is about a couple breaking up, which we thought was fitting for a Valentine’s Day performance.

Holgate Harmony is an auditioned show choir from Holgate Middle School in Aberdeen, SD. The group, made up of sixth, seventh, and eighth graders, rehearses twice a week to prepare for performances at various local events, including Aberdeen Central’s Center Stage, Roosevelt’s Executive Showcase, and Washington's Best of Show.
This year, Holgate Harmony presents a dynamic performance starting with “Hero” by Skillet, followed by “Help!” by The Beatles, featuring soloist GiGi Golz. The choir’s ballad, “Boy Falls From the Sky,” highlights soloist Eden Barkmeier. The show closes with Van Halen’s energetic “Right Now,” reminding us that the present is the moment to seize control.

Simmons Singers is an auditioned show choir from Simmons Middle School. The group is comprised of sixth, seventh, and eighth graders that rehearse two mornings a week from 7:00-8:00 a.m. Members of the group are involved in many activities at SMS, including: athletics, math counts, youth power, theater, orchestra, band, and choir. They have performed annually at Aberdeen Central’s Center Stage, Roosevelt’s Executive Showcase, O’Gorman's Standing O!, and Washington’s Best of Show.
Simmons Singers is excited to be here at Washington’s Best of Show today to present their show “The Lighthouse” which explores the symbolism of what a lighthouse represents. They will open with “The Lighthouse Keeper” by Sam Smith, with vocal soloist Lauryn Robinson. Next they will “Chase the Light”, featuring soloist Jillian Lepkowski, followed by “Beyond the Sea”. In “Look for the Light”, featuring soloist Claire Manhart, they will deliver the message to always look for the light. Simmons Singers will close out their show with “Home”. Under the direction of Jenna Hansen, and choreographed by Emily Magera, we hope you enjoy Simmons Singers!
City LIghts is an auditioned ensemble of 7th and 8th Graders from Patrick Henry Middle School. Their 2025 show is titled “You Can't Stop the Beat” and features music that celebrates living life out loud through singing and dancing. Featuring the songs Sing, Dance the Night, Dancing Queen, and You Can’t Stop the Beat, City Lights reminds us that even when the days are long, music will always be there to pick us back up again. In addition to Best of Show, City Lights performs at the Cavalier Classic, Executive Showcase, Stampede games, concerts, and their annual tour to elementary schools. Signature is under the direction of Kathy Sundvold and Nolan Wipf. Signature Show Choir is an auditioned group consisting of 7th and 8th grade students. Signature rehearses two hours each week in preparation for their performances. This year’s theme is “Celebrate Life!” We start with the Iconic mash-up from Rare Earth and Three Dog Night, Celebrate with I Just Want to Celebrate, Aerosmith’s Dream On, NA NA NA by Pentatonix, and finish with Sing, Sing, Sing made famous by the King of Swing, Benny Goodman and his Orchestra. Whittier Middle School’s Special Edition consists of 45 auditioned students in 6th, 7th, and 8th grade. They rehearse two days a week after school. This year, Special Edition takes you on a thrilling ride to the “danger zone:” a place of risk where some are told to “beat it,” but all know there’s “no time to die.” So, if we’re careful, we just might be able to make an “escape.”
Expressions is an auditioned ensemble made up of forty-one 6th, 7th and 8th grade students. Our 2025 show is all about the storm of life and how it can feel really overwhelming at times. Though our show starts with a storm rolling in and continues with hard times, we rely on family and friends to prevail in the end and "ride the storm out"!
