The affirmation stand in our school library was a key part of our HOSA mental health promotion campaign, focusing on self esteem building. This initiative effectively encouraged positive thinking and emotional resilience, addressing common triggers for self-image issues, such as stress and low self-esteem. By placing the stand in a neutral, accessible space, we created a safe environment for students to engage with affirmations and reflect on their mental health and also support a good cause. This event fostered a supportive community, normalized conversations about mental well-being, and empowered students with healthier coping strategies
Empowered Students Yoga Camp – 10/25/2025
To support positive body image and emotional well-being, the Youth Wellness Initiative hosted the Empowered Students Yoga Camp. Set in a calm, outdoor environment, the camp brought students together to participate in guided yoga and mindfulness exercises aimed at fostering self-acceptance and healthy coping skills. Led by a trained instructor, the session focused on breathwork, intentional movement, and mental grounding, helping students reconnect with their bodies in a nurturing way. More than just physical activity, the camp offered a chance to pause, reflect, and strengthen resilience against negative body image and disordered eating. The energy and engagement from participants highlighted the impact of shared healing. As students moved through each pose, they developed greater self-awareness, self-compassion, and a sense of belonging. Experiences like this make Youth Wellness Initiative a space where students are empowered to embrace their bodies, care for their mental health, and support one another along the journey.
Our virtual workshop with a body image and eating disorder specialist has been a key part of our initiative. It offered participants valuable guidance on developing healthy self-perception, coping strategies, and resilience, all within a safe and interactive online environment. The specialist led discussions on managing negative body image, disordered eating patterns, and related emotional challenges, providing expert advice that helped attendees better understand and care for their own well-being. The virtual format made the session accessible to a wider audience, and participants were actively engaged, asking questions and receiving personalized support. By including this workshop in our program, we were able to provide crucial resources and guidance to our community, advancing our mission to promote positive body image, awareness, and mental health advocacy.
