You heard it here first,
WMS Cross Country Spartans showed up ready to greet the challenge,
tackled an unfamiliar course at our last meet,
ran to the best of their ability to defeat the competition,
And now, we're ready to repeat it all over again!
On Friday, August 20th, our Wheeler Spartans competed in the 2025 Fall Mililani Middle School Preseason XC Invitational, a meet reserved for Central District Schools. Given that this meet was a bit smaller than we typically attend, that didn't stop us from coming for the win! By the closing of the meet, our team left with three trophies, and eleven individual students earned medals! As always, here are some of our meet highlights:
Highlights
Each Wheeler athlete completed their 1.75-mile run!
6/7 grade boys placed 3rd
6/7 grade girls placed 2nd
8th-grade boys placed 2nd
Out of 44 athletes, Holland Hoffman (6th) finished in 1st place
Holland finished in 11 minutes and 28 seconds
Out of 34 athletes, Cattleya Washington (6th) and Jaelyn Taylor (7th) finished 1st and 10th place
Laylay finished in 14 minutes and 14 seconds
Jaelyn finished in 16 minutes and 6 seconds
Every single last Wheeler athlete set a PERSONAL RECORD for the season
My personal highlight, Jackson Stevenson consuming EIGHT popsicles after his run because it was "too hot to do all this running!"
That being said, please, in a manner of the utmost embarrassment, congratulate your kiddos :)!
Next stop: Our September 13th meet- in case you missed the first, the next time we'll get to compete.
This will be a CASHLESS EVENT.

'Olelo No'eau: Hawaiian Proverbs & Poetical of the Month
Aʻohe ʻulu e loaʻa i ka pōkole o ka lou.
No breadfruit can be reached when the picking stick is too short.
This proverb highlights that success depends on proper preparation and having the right tools. Goals cannot be reached without being ready for the challenge.
