The course is designed specifically to assist 9th-grade students’ transition into the high school setting. Students learn and discover all the opportunities our school provides through resources and academy classes.
Each month classes reflect on the attributes of Hoʻokoa (Becoming a Warrior) and recognize classmates for outstanding display of character in attitude, integrity, reliability, citizenship and leadership.
During Quarter 1, students begin establishing their Personal Transition Plan (PTP). By the end of the course, the students will connect their interests with WHS career academies and post-high school goals, culminating in the completion of their “20th Pre-Union” project.
Ms. Maxine Foster, Mr. Cody Burkert, Mr. CharlesTolentino (past Transition To High School teacher) and Mrs. Zaida Igawa, welcome everyone to this year's Class of 2029 Pre-Union Project.
Ms. Foster & Mr. Burkert give instructions to the Pre-Union judges - teachers, upperclassmen students and community members.
Freshman Academy students present thier Pre-Union Projects to judges.
Students are also interviewed and evaluated by the judges.
