Co-Curricular Concerns Bills
The Co-Curricular Concerns committee works on maintaining the intangible school environment and promotes a student’s healthy physical and mental well-being. Examples include: school spirit, social interactions, opportunities for more interest-based activities, accessible technology, mental health, substance abuse, etc.
Student Achievement
The Student Achievement Committee works on promoting, and/or changing, the existing Board of Education educational standards to provide the students of Hawaiʻi a quality education. Examples of issues they may be involved with include: an increase in AP courses, early college, making classes more accessible, more class choices, college and career information from freshman year on, etc.
School Environment
This committee works to promote a healthy and stable learning environment for Hawaiʻi public schools. Examples include: Facilities, students engaging with school leaders, engaging the unengaged student, consistency from school to school, working with and reaching out to different groups of students, etc. Issues relating to teachers are also a part of the School Environment.
There are many more bills out there; this is just a small sampling of the many introduced yesterday! If there are other bills you think are worth considering for your committee, double-check that the bill is not already in another committee's bill package. Then, propose it to your committee leads, who will verify it with the exec team before introducing it into your committee's package!
