Late work will NOT be accepted after the due date. If you wish to recover some of the missed points, alternate assignments can be completed. This includes all Classwork, Homework assignments and Projects. You must come see me on your own time (recess and/or lunch) to request an alternate assignment.

We will go over the layout of our Schoology course page in the first few weeks of school. Other important resources are accessible from Schoology as well, such as our textbook (TCi) and Newsela. 

Newsela is an online resource that contains a huge collection of articles for reading and review. Each article can be adjusted to meet the individual student's reading level and abilities. Reading comprehension quizzes and writing prompts are also included with each article to help students synthesize what they have read. We will utilize Newsela every FRIDAY.

Lessons and lectures for this class will be presented using Google Slides and Pear Deck. This is a great way to make my lectures interactive while students are in class, as well as allowing students the opportunity to complete them on their own time.

One of the most important sections of this class focuses on the structure of our government and how each of us can play a significant role in the functions of our government. iCivics is a great online resource that includes lessons and interactive games to help students learn about the many ways our government works.

Games that we will utilize include: Branches of Power, Win the White House, and Executive Command.
