Aspiring Administrators
Professional Development and Educational Research Institute (PDERI) is committed to supporting the development and growth of school leaders in the Hawaii State Department of Education (Department). PDERI, often in collaboration with local professional organizations, conducts online learning opportunities for Department employees interested in possibly pursuing a future in school level administration.
The objectives of Aspiring Administrator sessions include:
Build an understanding of the role of a school administrator;
Explore the skills and beliefs in the Profile of An Effective School Leader standards that guide the work of school administrators;
Engage with current administrators on how to prepare for a possible career in school administration;
Apply leadership skills and dispositions to address a scenario; and
Develop an understanding of the Hawaii Certification Institute for School Leaders (HICISL) program, including the application and screening process.
Participants are expected to be fully engaged and interact with presenters and fellow attendees in breakout groups.
Sessions are usually held in early Spring each school year. Interested individuals should register on pde3.k12.hi.us (when course is available). Click here for: Aspiring Administrator Memo for informational purposes only as registration is now closed.
