Being a part of the planning committee is a small token of appreciation to give back to the school community and reconnect with friends.

My experience as a Pearl City Charger was truly amazing and that feeling continues today with the opportunity to serve on the 50th Anniversary Celebration planning committee with an inspiring group of PCHS alumni and retired and current teachers.

Adelaida (Velasco) Severson, PhD '83

PCHS was a wonderful foundation for me as a teen and now as an adult – I will always remember the wonderful memories there. I wanted to be on this committee for this momentous occasion because it gives all of our classes to get together on such a rare occasion! Hoping all classes are represented and we can have a chance to celebrate our history, while looking toward the future! #ChargersforLife!

Lance Motogawa

I joined the committee because of my love for PCHS And it’s alumni. I hope to raise more funds for us through the upcoming radio interview to let the masses know about our very special event

From the first day when I was hired by Principal Lammy Ching

until the day I retired, Pearl City High School has been an

integral part of my life. It is a lifelong desire to give back to the place that nurtured and allowed me to follow my dreams.

I am a proud Class of 1990 Alumni of Pearl City High School. When I entered the field of education, my goal was to come back home to PCHS to give back to my school and community. I have been on staff at PCHS since 2002 and being on the 50th Anniversary committee is a great way to plan and celebrate the legacy of 50 years of Pearl City High School!

Joanne Ing

(Retired Social Studies Teacher)

During the past 50 years, Pearl City High School has witnessed the talents of students, staff, teachers, and community volunteers who have formed the foundation for Excellence and Service. My reason for joining the committee was to reconnect these individuals to support each other. Collectively, great things can be accomplished.

I am participating in the 50th anniversary planning committee because I want to give back to places and people that I have a connection to. Pearl City High School is close to my heart. I grew up in the community likewise my ‘ohana. My children (more or less) followed my footsteps and graduated from Pearl City High School. I am proud to be a Charger. While attending PCHS, I got to select the alma mater and the logo, I learned to ballroom dance, was a cheerleader and continue to be a cheerleader in the stands, played in the symphonic band (there wasnʻt a marching band...we started to march when I graduated), visited other schools,....I could go on and on. Lots of great memories that no one can take away. Itʻs hard to believe 50 years later and PCHS continues to grow and become better than before. Go Chargers!!!

Being a part of the committee allows me the opportunity to continue to give back to the school and community that has given me and my family so much. I would like to see the funds raised through our event go towards providing our students with new learning experiences and supporting our academies and programs.

Being part of this committee is a way to give back to my alma mater in more ways than just teaching here. I know the funds will be used to continue the great work of our college and career academies!

Pearl City High School is an important part of our community. As alumni, we have a responsibility to our school and future generations of leaders. Being involved in the planning committee with the 50th Anniversary recaptured many fond memories. As we commemorate "Charger Pride" we are hopeful to connect our classes together and to celebrate with our community.

I joined the 50th Planning Committee because Kyle Miyashiro asked me! Haha, just kidding, while I'm happy to help Kyle and student activities, I joined because of the pride I have in our high school. The great memories from leadership camp, being a mascot, and running assemblies, my time in high school is fond to me because of the people I shared those memories with. Friends, mentors, family, everyone. Each person has helped make me the person I am today-- and we're all proud to be Chargers!

Khtana Kam '12

I am and always will be a PCHS Charger. I joined the 50th Anniversary Committee because it has always been a passion of mine to help out my alma mater and staying actively involved with school spirit and leadership. It's always a plus to see friend and familiar faces.

Kyle Miyashiro '90

Looking back at my time at Pearl City High School, I have great memories and created friendships that have lasted until today. The 50th celebration is our time to reconnect and relive those memories again!

As a proud member of the class of '82, I am honored to help plan for Pearl City High's 50th Birthday. I look forward to reconnecting and meeting other Chargers. It has been quite the journey putting together this amazing event. The generosity of our alumni never ceases to amaze me. I am looking forward to the auction. I hope we will be able to raise a lot of money to support the faculty, students and staff.

Melissa Bojorquez '82

I am married to my highschool sweetheart, Dominic Bojorquez who also is a PCHS Class of 1982 Alumni. When I heard about the PCHS 50th Anniversary Celebration, I had to be involved. All our children are PCHS Alumnis - Elyse, Class of 2009, Juliana, Class of 2013 and Quinn, Class of 2019. We are a proud Charger Family! We have such fond memories from our school experience and life long friendships we have developed from our PCHS high school days. Based on all of the memories, the friends and education we received - I wanted to get involved to help raise funds to give back to Pearl City High School and help continue building a legacy to educate the children of Pearl City to be leaders and contributors to our community and new global community.

Many amazing people at Pearl City High School have shaped me into the person I am today. From my days as a student learning from caring teachers and making memories with lifelong friends to now as a teacher with students that I build relationships with, Pearl City is part of who I am and where my heart is. Joining this committee provided me with an opportunity to reconnect with fellow Chargers, learn more deeply about our history, and support Pearl City High School in continuing to provide opportunities for future Chargers.
