As a school, we already have this program in place. Studies have shown that doing 2 articles per week in achieve 3000 is very beneficial for improving Informational Text Comprehension. Two passing articles (75%) per week shows the most gains. Articles should not be done all in one day.
Best Practices:
Designate two days a week ( For example: Mondays and Thursdays) to complete Achieve articles.
As you read each paragraph, stop and think "What was that paragraph about? Who and What were important?"
As you answer your questions, refer back to the article for your answers.
To Log On: Go through Clever or through the Aina Haina School Website and click on the orange icon (pictured on the right), Use the Log On information you got from your teacher.
iReady is another platform that we use for Reading and Math. Please follow your teacher's guidelines in the usage of these activities. If your teacher does not specify any amount, I suggest 2 lessons per subject per week. The lessons here are a little longer than the Achieve articles (up to 45 minutes).
Best Practices:
Designate two days a week for Math and two days for Reading. I do not suggest doing more than 2 lessons a day.
If lessons are too long, take a break. The computer will save where your child left off.
Make sure there aren't any distractions near by.
To Log On: Go through Clever on the Aina Haina School Website and click on the cube labeled i-Ready. Use the Log On information from your teacher.
