“If we teach today’s students as we taught yesterday’s, we rob them of tomorrow… John Dewey”
The MWIS Library Learning Center is an essential part of a meaningful, engaging, 21st century curriculum. Technology is an integral component of our program. We provide learning opportunities for students to access, evaluate, and use ideas and information effectively, ethically, and purposefully. We also provide professional development for teachers to learn and integrate the use of 21st century tools into their curriculum to promote collaborative learning experiences for their students as well as tools that can provide ongoing feedback for improvement of the quality of student work.
Aloha Students, Staff, and 'Ohana of Maui Waena Intermediate School! My name is Kerri-lynn Coelho Slavens and I'm excited to be here in my second year as your School Library Media Specialist. I am originally from Maui, a graduate of Maui High School, and had been living on O'ahu for many years raising my family while working as the Technology Librarian at both Waipahu Elementary and Waipahu Intermediate Schools. I am thrilled to be back home and look forward to working with all of you!
