If something comes up, or your child has had a busy day, I understand that. However, schoolwork should be completed as promptly as possible.
Frequently unfinished homework and classwork may impact your child's GLO marks as well as their progress in achieving the learning goals. Thank you for your at-home support!

We are looking for parents who are willing to log on to help students boost their math fact fluency. This includes multiplication, addition, subtraction, and division. If interested, please let Miss Evans know your availability.
At Home Projects
At Home Projects
Would you like to help put together things needed for the classroom? This may require cutting and gluing. The teacher will send home materials and an example. Your child can bring the completed project back to school.
We are hoping to have at least 2 parents per Field Trip (excluding HTY). Parent supervision includes monitoring a group of students and helping students cross the street when needed. You would be paired with your child on the bus. Per school policy, please provide your legal name and birth date for our background check conducted by the principal. Please confirm with the teacher, as some field trips may have more volunteers than chaperone opportunities. Mahalo for your support and understanding. Sign up to volunteer here for SY 26-27.

The end of year goal is to have students reading at a lexile of 520.
The end-of-year goal for each student is to reach their typical (those testing on grade 2 level at diagnostic 1) or stretch goals (those testing below grade 2 level at diagnostic 1).
The end-of-year fluency target is 124 words per minute (Amira targets fluency and phonics growth)

In our classroom, feedback includes marks in two colors. Pink and green colors are reserved for feedback.
Pink highlights: Your child did this strongly.
Green highlights- Your child can try again. They may need additional support in the classroom or at home to complete this at grade-level expectations.
Seesaw automatic grading marks items with a green check if correct, and a thinking emoji to try again on "self check" assignments. Assessments on Seesaw are marked green for correct and red for incorrect. Fluency assessments on Seesaw use audio recordings to check for word count and pronunciation. While Seesaw utilizes percentages, teachers utilize rubrics to calculate grades in accordance with DOE policy.

This year we will be utilizing google classroom to post and complete many of our assignments. Using google will help students gain the computer skills needed for their tech rich futures. Miss Evans has worked with students from K-6 through google platforms and is here to support your child.

How do I help my child at home according to iReady reports
If you are utilizing a handheld device, please be sure iready and clever apps are downloaded before we begin. Students will be taking an assessment on this program 3x a year to monitor needs and growth. Students are also expected to complete a personalized number of lessons that support their individual paths to success.

Many of our Manoa Elementary friends are severely allergic to nuts.
While we can not ban nuts completely, please be considerate and do your best to help us keep nut snacks/lunches at home for health reasons.

No wheeled transportation on campus
Please leave expensive, personal items, extra cash, jewelry, etc. at home. The biggest flex at school is trying our best, not showing off our things.
No toys and games (e.g. yoyo, kendama, trading cards).
No cell phones or smartwatches in classrooms (DOE Policy 301-11)If cell phones or smartwatches are brought to school, they need to remain OFF in students' bags; devices that are used will be turned into the office.

Daily Clothing Guidelines
Shirts must cover the stomach and waist. Spaghetti straps, strapless tops, halter tops, and tops that show undergarments are not allowed.
T-shirts must not have inappropriate words, images, or scary graphics.
Shorts, skirts, and dresses must be long enough to allow for comfortable sitting and playing. Short shorts/skirts are not permitted.
Face paint, makeup, and fake nails are considered inappropriate for elementary students and are not allowed.
Footwear & Outdoor Safety
Students must wear shoes or slippers at all times on campus.
Shoes are required for P.E. class.
Shoes are mandatory for all study trips and off-campus excursions NO Crocs.
Heels: High-heel shoes are not allowed.
Hats and Sun Protection
Hats are highly encouraged for sun protection during recess and outdoor activities.
All hats, caps, and hoods must be removed when entering classrooms and school buildings.
Sun screen can be applied at home before coming to campus.

We are excited to celebrate your child's special day. We celebrate birthdays during the last 15 mins of our school day. If you are dropping off a treat, please let the teacher know in advance. Please bring treats to the office per our visitor policy
We encourage healthy or non-food choices, though a cupcake is a classic and is enjoyed by most children.
