Smarter Balanced Assessments
The Smarter Balanced Assessment is an ONLINE State exam that is mandatory for all Grade 11 students. Only students marked as Grade 11 in Infinite Campus are allowed to take this exam, which includes the following components:
Math, Computer Adaptive Test (CAT): Multiple-choice and short answer
English Language Arts (ELA), CAT: Multiple-choice and short answer
English Language Arts, Performance Test: Essay response
SBA Test Schedule
Students are given two (2) testing blocks to complete three (3) tests.
Upon completion of one test, inform the counselor in the room so you can begin the next test.
Students will be done when they have completed all 3 test components.
All tests are untimed. Breaks are allowed in between tests.
Students' Test Dates & Assigned Test Room
Report to your designated test room on each of your test days by 8:10 am. Do NOT check in with your teacher first.
This list can only be accessed through the junior student's @k12.hi.us google account. If you cannot find your name on the list, then you do not take this test.
Important Details
An online calculator will appear on your screen for allowed test items. Do not bring your own calculator.
Bring a pen or pencil to work out problems.
Scratch paper will be provided for you. Do not use your own.
Headset/Headphones are required and will therefore be provided.
Electronics need to be turned off and put away in your bag. There should be no electronics on you at any time during the test.
Important Things to Note:
Breaks are allowed during the test, but students will need to pause the test and log out. For the ELA CAT and Math CAT tests, if a student pauses for more than 20 minutes, he/she will not be able to change any of the previously selected answers.
Students must not come to school if they are feeling sick or experiencing any COVID symptoms.
