The Hawaiʻi Common Core Standards for Mathematics (HCCS-M) constitute the culmination of a multi-year initiative that began with the State Math Task Force (2022) recommending the creation of Pathways (2023) that connect K12 students to post-secondary institutions. Workgroups comprised of representatives from the Hawaiʻi DOE, Hawaiʻi P-20 Partnerships for Education, university mathematics and mathematics education faculty, community college faculty, and high school teachers and leaders were tasked to revise the Common Core Standards for Mathematics. The HCCS-M were approved by the Hawaii Board of Education in 2026.
