The JROTC Leadership and Academic Bowl (JLAB) team at Kapolei High School aims to develop academic prowess in cadets. With a heavy focus on Reading and Mathematical skills, cadets in JLAB are capable of prompt and accurate calculations. JLAB competitors use their knowledge to overcome other teams in time-sensitive academic competitions.
C/SSgt Agustin is a LE-3 cadet in the program who has been a part of JLAB since his freshman year.

The JLAB Team provides unique involvement opportunities for cadets devoted to personal development, peer collaboration, and academic excellence. It also provides an environment for cadets to take what they learn in the classroom and compete against other schools in a fast paced academic quiz setting. Topics range from scholastic subjects to pop culture and general knowledge questions. Participation in team activities, attendance to regular study sessions, and showing a positive work ethic are keystones for team selection. The team competes in a number of events throughout the school year. With the ultimate goal of selection to the JROTC Leadership and Academic Bowl (JLAB) national championship, held annually in Washington D.C.
