Join Kalāheo's 40 Books Challenge

This school year (2025-26 SY), I challenge everyone at Kalāheo to join the 40 Books Challenge and read even more this year!

What is the 40 Books Challenge?

The "40 Books Challenge" was developed by Donalynn Miller in "The Book Whisperer." It challenges readers to read 40 books across different genres throughout the school year. In her own words, the goal of this challenge is for "[them to] stretch themselves as readers and increase their competence, confidence, and reading motivation through their daily participation in our reading community."

How is Kalāheo doing this challenge?

Read 40 books, log your reading in Beanstack, and earn badges!

The ultimate goal of this challenge is to stretch yourself as a reader. If you are going from 0 books to 3, that's a stretch! If you're trying a biography instead of fiction, that's a stretch! Collections of short stories count! Manga & Graphic Novels count!  Audiobooks, eBooks, & read-alongs count!

All active participants will get a sweet treat at the end of the semester and again at the end of the year. If you complete the challenge by May 15, 2026, you will be entered to win 1 of 4 big prizes!
