Banned Book Week/Every Story Matters

October 4-10, 2026

Banned Book Week promotes intellectual freedom for all, including the freedom to read. The Hawaii State Public Libraries System (HSPLS) is celebrating this week with their theme, "Every Story Matters." They will be having displays and events all week! Kalāheo High School is on break during this week, but is recognizing Banned Book/Every Story Matters Week by collecting positive book memories! Students and Staff who share a story can collect a sweet treat when we return to school! Our community members are also welcome to share :)

All stories will be shared, but names can be kept private. Fill out this form if you'd like to share! Have a great week! https://bit.ly/4xT3B5R

DonorsChoose:

Manga on the Mind

I've created a DonorsChoose project called "Manga on the Mind" that will help build the library's manga collection. This is by far the library's most popular print collection!

We hope to see you soon!

Making Community Connections!

Ms. Fujii met with a delegation of Canadian Librarians at the 2025 Hawaii State School Librarian Conference. Before leaving to go back to Canada, the group visited Kalāheo High School's library.

Thank you for visiting Kalāheo!
