College Credit Programs

Advanced Placement (AP)

The Advanced Placement (AP) Program provides college-level curriculum for students whose goal it is to challenge themselves while in high school. Students who earn a passing score (3, 4, or 5) on AP exams may be eligible for college credit from the college they enroll in after graduation. Kailua High School offers the following courses:

Students enrolled in AP courses are expected to participate in the Spring 2025 AP Examinations (May 5-16, 2025). The 2025 AP Exam fees are approximately $98 each. Students who qualify for free or reduced lunch may be eligible for exam fee reductions.

Early College High School (ECHS)

Kailua High School offers various dual credit courses within the regular school day and at no cost to eligible students. Below is a list of the courses that are currently being offered:

*This course requires placement testing or eligible ACT/SAT scores.

**Successful completion of these courses (in addition to ICS 171 and ICS 184) leads to an Information Security Specialist Certificate of Competence.

Running Start

The Running Start program offers eligible high school students the opportunity to take a college course at a University of Hawaii community college campus to earn both high school and college credit (dual credit) as part of their high school coursework. Appropriate courses should be selected with the help of your grade level counselor.
