Principal's Message

Voyager ‘Ohana,

Welcome aboard to another new voyage of shared commitments, responsibilities, hopes and aspirations for our students! It was the navigator and president of the Polynesian Voyaging Society Nainoa Thompson who once said, “If you can find the stars, and if you have memorized where they come up and go down, you can find your direction.” The voyage we are about to start this school year focuses on the theme Pupukahi I Holomua, which translates into “Unite to move forward together.”

We welcome our new families whose students are entering as new Voyagers in their journey of  learning! Whether you are a family whose student is in Kindergarten, or a family whose student is in their final year of the 6th grade, this school year calls for everyone to unite and move forward together. For parents, this theme involves providing the best opportunity for their students to learn. When we think about what this means, we look forward to learners who attend school daily, maintain proper physical, mental and social-emotional wellness, and practice a growth mindset of learning from mistakes. For these things to occur, we appreciate our parents’ support with these things and the following best practices:

As we start our new school year together, rest assured that Holomua’s commitment to the values of excellence, ‘ohana, community, innovation and continuous improvement is alive and well. To reach our destination of our students’ academic and social-emotional learning, our relationships will represent the stars used to navigate our students’ success. Our relationships with students, their parents, teachers and the community make this school year’s theme known as Pupukahi I Holomua or Unite to Move Forward all the more special! We look forward to building relationships with our parents, especially at the scheduled Curriculum Nights on August 5 (Blue & Yellow Tracks) and August 26 (Green & Red Tracks). All the best to our Voyager ‘Ohana!

Sincerely,

Christopher D. Bonilla
