Aloha Voyager ‘Ohana,
Welcome to Holomua Elementary School and a new school year! Since opening our school in 1996, Holomua Elementary School has been dedicated to providing educational opportunities that help each student excel academically and develop their social-emotional health. As the principal of the sole remaining multi-track school in the Hawaii State Department of Education, I warmly welcome every student, staff member, parent, and community member.
Equitable learning opportunities for all students serve as my guiding principle as leader of our school. Our students’ parents entrust our school with providing safety, care and excellence in learning for every student. The commitment of our teachers and staff to the well-being and success of all 1,100 students is a commitment we take seriously. Having had four children complete their elementary years at Holomua Elementary from Kindergarten through Grade 6, I can vouch for the dedication of our educators and staff who continue to make a difference today.
Our goal is for students to grow in all aspects of their learning, which includes essential skills in Math, Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, communication as well as social-emotional values of courage, gratitude, forgiveness, and compassion, all of which provide a solid foundation for lifelong learning. The support we receive from parents fosters an invaluable partnership that students stand to benefit from. Together, our partnership will make a difference. We take pride in our history of tradition and excellence, and we are also committed to embracing innovation and change for the ultimate benefit of our students. Join in as we collaborate together to shape the lives of our students, our community, and the future.
I look forward to a fantastic school year filled with unity and success. Together, we will continue to “PŪPŪKAHI I HOLOMUA ” or “Unite to Move Forward Together.” I welcome families, both new and returning, to Holomua Elementary School. Please feel free to reach out to me at (808)685-9100 with any questions, concerns or ideas to consider in support of our school.
Mahalo,
Christopher D. Bonilla
