Continuing on the 4th Qtr theme of the social studies unit: Ancient Olympics and the driving question, "What does it take to be a difference maker?"; we have the honor of a special author visit who is also a former world Olympian, Kevin Asano.
In 1988, Mr. Asano was a silver medalist in judo, who then went onto write an autobiography, Stepping Onto the Mat: A Journey to True Success. In chapter Sixteen of his book, he writes,
"An Olympic victory was not just my dream, it was my destiny and God’s plan for His glory.I devoted eighteen years of my life in judo to reach the epitome of sports success. My energy and focus went into an ultimate goal of winning the gold medal at the Olympic Games. To this day, much of my thinking and paradigms are influenced by those experiences, relationships, and knowledge. And as I reflect on all I’ve accomplished, I want to share a final story that brings success into perspective."
Mr. Asano will be visiting our school library on April 12, 2021 during period 3 from 11:10 to 12:10 p.m. Please let Mrs. Lee know if you and your class would like to attend by sending an email with a head count that includes everyone in virtual attendance.
