Parents and guardians are the primary educators and caregivers of young people. When parents and guardians learn about child sexual abuse, including brief educational information, they are better equipped to foster safer environments for their children, prevent sexual violence, and connect with resources and services if needed.
By SY 2024-2025, parents and guardians will receive information on an annual basis. The parent and guardian brochure informs parents or guardians about:
the importance of talking about body safety,
the warning signs of child sexual abuse,
how to discuss this topic with children,
grooming behaviors to watch out for,
tips for responding to disclosure, and
referral or resource information to support sexually abused children and their families.
