The principles of good assessment still remain the same. Effective feedback is timely, specific, concrete, actionable and goal oriented. Grant Wiggins (Understanding by Design) posted an article in ASCD Educational Leadership Publication about assessment, feedback and evaluation. In the article he is in agreement with much of what Anne Davies & Sandra Herbst reference in their series of books on assessment & evaluation. Anne Davies et al. also discuss using Conversations, Observations and Products as evidence of learning. Collecting the evidence can look the same as students turn in digital assignments. And a question to ask yourself as you apply the SAMR model to assessment practices might be, "How do I Modify or Redefine my assessment of and for learning using technology?"
Schools are closed but schooling goes on, and it remains crucial that teachers find ways to see what students are learning.
