In this program, we invite high school juniors and one parent or guardian to engage in a series of conversations to prepare for college. We will explore the requirements necessary to apply for higher education at colleges and universities in Hawai'i and beyond while developing the skills needed for success in school and life.
Students will learn, develop, and practice health skills that will help them navigate a major transition from high school to college, from childhood to adulthood, from dependence to independence.
Students and parents will learn, develop, and practice communication skills that will help them engage in hard conversations about the transition to post-high school life.
Students and parents will learn how to navigate the requirements and expectations of college readiness including applying for financial aid and enrollment.

*One follow up session will take place in September, 2024, during the student's senior year.
During this session we will review and prepare for the FAFSA, Scholarship, and enrollment deadlines.
Eligibility & Commitment
Program Eligibility
To be eligible for the program, students must:
Be enrolled at Kea'au High School, Pahoa High & Intermediate School, or Ka'u High School
Be in the 11th grade for the 2023-24 school year
Program Commitment
Commit to attending one session per week from April 1 through May 16, 2024
Commit to travelling to Oahu one day during the week of June 24-28, 2024
Attend at least one follow-up session in September, 2024, of their 12th grade year
