Jason Schafer is an educational specialist in the Hawaii Department of Education. Jason has worked in education for over 15 years as a teacher, mentor, and curriculum specialist. Having lived and worked in Montana, Washington, Texas, and Colorado, Jason has an appreciation and respect for diverse communities and strives to honor place, knowing he is always a guest on the land. Jason is passionate about health and physical education and working with communities to support well-being for students. Jason is a father of two and loves being outside, enjoying and connecting with family and nature.
Jamaica A. Moake is an associate mental health counselor, director for the University of Hawaii at Manoa TRIO Talent Search program and a psychology PhD student at UH Manoa. Currently pursuing licensure, she has worked alongside professionals in the medical and helping fields for over 20 years and is highly dedicated to being of service. Her work is centered around supporting disadvantaged and underserved youth and communities. A devoted mother of three, Jamaica has lived off-grid in Pahoa, Hawaii for over 27 years. In her spare time, she enjoys outdoor activities, adventures and traveling with her husband, spending time with friends and family, and creative projects.
