Calendar Activities
K~Gr.2 students start out their Nihongo class by singing a calendar song.
Communication Activities
Speaking Activities
Example: Third grade students played a "conversational Jan Ken" game. They start out with three tickets. First they greet and bow, and ask/answer names with each other. Then they play "jan-ken" and the winner gets to take one ticket from the loser. See who gets the most tickets!
Listening Activities
Example: Second grade students listened to a story ("Saru to Kani") read aloud all in Japanese. They used Sensei's gestures, tone of voice, and pictures as clues to comprehend the story, and drew a scene. They shared five things in their own pictures using learned Japanese words and phrases.
Computer Activities
Students enjoy playing Japanese games, learning about culture, and reinforcing vocabulary on the computer. See the Games tab.
Japanese bilingual students in grades 3~5 practice their Japanese keyboarding, reading, and writing skills on the computer... a great way to reinforce Hiragana, Katakana, and Kanji!
Grade 5 students learned about Japanese Gestures through computer activities.
