Technology Responsible User Guidelines (TRUG) and Form (TRUF)
Students and Parents new to Radford are required to read the TRUG and submit a completed TRUF. You may do this electronically or by print:
PDF files: TRUG file for viewing & TRUF to be printed and signed
Forms may be dropped off to the front office or counseling center. Blank forms are also available at the front office.
Chromebook Troubleshooting(including password resets) , Care, and Tips are available on additional pages on this website.
How do I get my personal CHROMEBOOK onto Radford's network.
STEP 1) AT HOME, connect your Chromebook to your Internet (not at school).
2) Click on "Add Person" and log in with your DOE account.
3) Make sure when you restart your computer that you have a "user tile" for your DOE account on the startup screen.
4) When you get to campus, you will get Internet ONLY when you are logged into the DOE user account that you attached to your computer.
When a user is added to the Chromebook using the DOE account, the computer will automatically download network credentials for that user. When you get to school, your computer will not have Internet until you are logged into your DOE account. Only then will you be connected to the WIFI on our campus to do your work.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email RadfordIT (at) k12 (dot) hi (dot) us.
(Sorry, written this way to avoid avoid email harvesting.)
Technology Fees for Front office LOANED Chromebook Damages (these fees apply only to computers loaned for home)? Charges for classroom computers are higher because they are newer.
You may exchange your computer at the front office if there is damage making your work difficult. If the damages are not just due to proper normal usage, a technology fee may be assessed.
Current technology repair charges are as follows (Prices are subject to change dependent upon current pricing and availability of parts):
Damaged or lost AC Adapter = $20
Damaged trackpad, key(s) and/or keyboard requiring replacement of entire palm rest = $20
Cracked or badly scratched screen = $25
Damaged camera $20
Damaged motherboard/liquid soaked or moisture build up inside of computer = $50
Lost or not returned loaner computer and charger = $75 + $20 = $95
(computers TAKEN from the school that are NOT loaned will incur the cost for its replacement, maximum $250)
Reminder for all: CB screens are fragile and may crack with uneven pressure. Keep small or uneven items from pressing on the screen whether inside the computer (ie. pen on the keyboard) or on the cover side when in a bag. Keep fingers off the screen, carefully open computers from the edge of the cover, and only carry a computer from its base. The LCD panel extends past the visible edge and is easily cracked if grabbed incorrectly.
If your child is using a school loaned computer and traveling with it to school, please make sure it is safely carried. Computers can be safely carried in regular school bags with a large book or stiff folder placed on the screen side of the computer to protect it. Never place items smaller than the screen against it and apply pressure. This can easily lead to a cracked screen.
