Nope! BPA does not require it's members to have taken a business class. There is no entrance exam to be a BPA member either.
Virtual events are events which allow you to compete directly at the National level! Virtual events are similar to normal events in that members can choose between individual and team competition.
In BPA, you can pick up to 2 different competitive events! Either one team events, one individual events. BPA also offers Open Events which are additional tests you can take to earn bonus awards, but you cannot advance to the next level if you place in an open event. Only winning in the competitive event(s) that you sign up for will allow you to move on to the next level.
"S" stands for Secondary (highschool), and "PS" for Post-Secondary (after-highschool/college). We are a secondary chapter! BPA even has a middle school level too.
We have three levels of competition.
Districts/Regional Level: Presubmits (for events that require it) due online in December. Testing held at Lebanon Trail Cafeteria. Presubmit events that move onto the finals round will give their presentation in person at another school.
State Level: The state leadership conference is in March! You get to stay overnight at a hotel for a few nights, compete, go out to eat, make new friends, and attend events hosted by BPA.
National Level: The national leadership conference occurs at the end of April and will be in Anaheim, CA this year! You'll get multi-day passes to Disneyland so you can visit the park anytime you want during the day with your friends. We will be flying to Anaheim and stay overnight as well.
BPA has a registration fee of $75. This goes towards your chapter t-shirt to wear at competitions, transportation, venues, events, and so much more!
If you advance to the state or national level of competition, there will be additional fees to pay such as flights, food, etc. More information about this will be released in second semester!
