Firstly, Model UN builds confidence and helps students grow more comfortable with public speaking in formal environments. By extension, the conference itself allows for a unique opportunity to boost problem-solving skills on an international level, as well as aid in a better understanding of regional, national, international, and global issues. To add, it looks great on college applications. Finally, there's guaranteed fun and plenty of opportunities to make new friends! Our club is full of welcoming people who love the conferences and the work that goes into them, and the experience paired with the camaraderie makes it all worth it.
Students will receive plenty of opportunities to be recognized for their hard work and achievements throughout the course of the conference and the General Assembly. These range from individual awards such as "Best Delegate" and "Outstanding Delegate", to group awards like "Outstanding Nation". Students will be briefed on these awards and how they can earn them sometime before the conference begins.Â
By extension, the YMCA program offers a certain amount of money in college scholarships to a select few who show exemplary performance and growth and leave a positive impact on their peers, the Chair, and the conference as a whole.
Club meetings are every other Thursday before or after school (8:20 - 8:50 AM/4:30 - 5:00 PM) in the Lecture Hall
