Hello. My name is Thomas Luong and I am a sophomore attending Panther Creek High School. I am thrilled to share my growth and experience as a student taking AP Physics 1 this year!
This year, I would like to learn lots about not only physics but all my classes. I love learning new things and exploring new ideas. However, I am a firm-believer in a well rounded student experience. When I'm not hunched over my desk, I am practicing tennis, playing soccer, and attending clubs I am in such as Model UN. These activities not only keep me energized but also teach me valuable life skills like time management, teamwork, and leadership.
My Life:
I have 3 siblings, two half brothers and one half sister. One of my half brothers is my dad's, he's 3. My other two siblings are my mom's children, one is a boy that is 10 and the other is a girl that is 4. Being the oldest sibling is difficult, I have to set expectations and be a role model for them to look up to. I live with my dad, stepmother, and my little 3 year old brother, his name is Tanner. I visit my mother every summer and spend time on my mom's side of the family, seeing my cousins, brother, sister, grandparents, aunts, and uncles.
Tennis:
I have been playing tennis competitively for 4 years now. I am a Varsity tennis player and love playing tennis. I practice daily with either my team, or on my own in order to improve my game and skills. Tennis is such an amazing sport because it doesn't only focus on the physical aspect of sports but also the mental aspect. Additionally, tennis teaches me to be self-accountable and learn from each loss. When I lose in tennis, I have no one to blame but myself. This helps me learn how to take steps in order to improve and accept my loss.
Soccer:
Another sport I play is soccer. I started competitive soccer in fourth grade and stopped in seventh grade due to Covid-19. However, I still continue playing for the school I attend and love the bonds and connections we build as a team at Panther Creek. By playing both an individual sport and a team sport I am able to understand the concept of working as a team towards a common goal and fighting alone on the tennis court. Both of these sports greatly benefitted me for my mental, physical, and social health.
