This unit is an introduction to the essential questions of the course including the concepts of justice, order and chaos, and leadership through the lens of the American comic book superhero. Through reading the core text of Ms. Marvel: No Normal together, students will analyze the role that character traits play in illuminating central themes. Students will also evaluate the craft and structure elements of the medium of comics. The concept of the hero in the monomythic tradition will also be explored as it relates to the texts.
