Joanna Melon has been working in the mental health field in various capacities since 2006. Joanna received her Masters in Mental Health Counseling from Monmouth University in 2012. She has been a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of New Jersey since 2015 and an Approved Clinical Supervisor since 2017.
Joanna has diverse experience working with people throughout the lifespan from different backgrounds. Her experience includes crisis intervention work, trauma informed care, individual, group and family therapy.
Joanna understands that a variety of reasons can lead to a person pursuing mental health therapy. Her compassionate approach instantly aligns her with the people she works with as she supports them on their journey to emotional healing and mental wellness. Joanna believes in empowering clients through person centered therapy to understand their emotions and utilize their inner strengths to resolve core conflicts and grow.
Joanna specializes in working with children, adolescents and adults in areas of life including adjustment, anxiety, depression, self esteem, trauma, behavioral issues, anger management, self care and LGBT+ related issues.
In addition to her above certifications, Joanna is also trained in Nurturing Parent and pursuing certification in TF-CBT (trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapy). Joanna also works very closely with her certified therapy dog Epic, who brings a calming and playful presence to the office.
