-Our sponsor’s father has Lewy Body Dementia. He received a fidget mat at his memory care unit. Can we make fidget mats for memory patients in our community?
-The City of Converse Library is going to have a STEM Monster sewing activity. How can we help?
-City of Converse Police Department is having a Trunk-o-treat event.How can we help but also bring STEM into it.
Project #1
STEM Catapult kits
We will make catapult kits and create a tutorial video on how to build the kit.
How many should we make?
We will hand our catapult kits at the police department's trunk-o-treat.
Time: 2:00 pm
Location: Converse North Park
Quantity of catapults: 200
Supplies that we will need:
Sandwich bags, rubber bands, spoons, army men, popsicle sticks
Community outreach: police dept. and Converse community
Project #2
Students are trying to play sports related games in the courtyard. We will paint four square courts in the and rock paper scissor battles in the courtyard.
Approval from Mrs. Worley and Mrs. Compton (administration)
New principal came in Oct. 2022. Received a new approval. District office will be contacted by our principal to look at the stability of concrete.
Ms. Bedford (principal) wants to contact the district herself. She will update Girls build.

Update: Paint has been purchased. We are waiting for Principal Bedford to meet with the district. NJHS and Student Council will help.
Project #3
Fidget mats for memory care units and community members with alzheimers and dementia.
Update:
All of the supplies we need will come from Amazon. Our school will not allow us to order from Amazon.
We are having to restructure our project.
Project #4
STEM Library corner (to take the place of fidget mats)
We would like to create a STEM corner in the library. The STEM corner would have books related to STEM and activities for students. We will also decorate the corner.
-We contacted Mrs. King, our librarian, and asked for permission to create a STEM corner. She agreed!!
We will meet with Mrs. King to pick out a spot in the school library. For right now, we will order books, decor, and activities.
Update:
Our book order is being reviewed by our LIbrarian who is currently out right now. As soon as she receives approval we will place the order.
STEM letters have been ordered. We will begin decorating them as soon as they come in.
At our next meeting we will decide what decorations to purchase.
