Female Hygiene Stations

We created stations for 3 girls bathrooms across campus that will hold various feminine hygiene products for girls on their menstrual cycle. Previously, girls who needed feminine products had to go to the school clinic and this is not a smooth process due to many issues. We wanted to remove these barriers to ease any embarrassment, especially if there is stained clothes.

Our initial goal was to create 4 stations, 3 in our main building on each of the 3 floors, and 1 in our "D" building that houses fine arts and other electives. However,  there wasn't enough adult supervision in that area in the case that any student misused the products.  So 3 stations it was!

The group worked together to build the rolling stations and decorate them with positive statements related to period poverty and normalizing menstruation

The final product!

We decided to put the underwear in brown paper bags and labeled them by sizes to 1)make it easier to locate a size someone needs and 2)to provide a bag to hold soiled underwear. After that last minute change, the girls were super excited to set them up in 1 bathroom on each floor in our main building.
