Target Oxbridge is a free programme that aims to help black African and Caribbean students and students of mixed race with black African and Caribbean heritage increase their chances of getting into the Universities of Oxford or Cambridge (known collectively as Oxbridge). Worcester College, Oxford - programme to support Black and Minority Ethnic applicants
Open to BAME students in Years 11 and 12
The programme consists of a number of visits to Worcester College, and will focus on different aspects of the application process, including: guidance on how to choose a subject and which subjects lead to which careers, support with personal statements, interviews, reading around the subject etc. Students can apply in Year 11 or Year 12.
There is no cost to the programme, and travel expenses to and from Worcester College to attend the events will be covered by the College.

Cambridge University – Aspiring Scientist Work Experience Programme
This programme is open to students from state schools, aged 16+ who are currently pursuing A-level or IB qualifications in biology.
For one week, students can spend afternoons in a lab, learning and practising research techniques, attending interactive workshops in the mornings, and meeting scientists and researching a scientific topic in order to deliver a presentation at the end of the week.

University of Southampton – opportunities for medics
Work experience placements
Two-day work experience placements at University Hospital Southampton for Year 12 students interested in pursuing a medical career. This programme provides students with information about careers in medicine, helps them to develop transferable skills and provides them with information to support their application to study medicine at university. Widening Access to Medicine Easter Residential
Three-day Easter residential for thirty Year 12 students, designed to increase the applicant’s knowledge of the role of doctors and the training they undergo. The residential will provide opportunities to develop interpersonal skills, increase awareness of the undergraduate medical student experience and support students in their applications to study Medicine. e-Mentoring Programme
WAMSoc is a student-led society that aims to help students from less privileged backgrounds to gain places at medical schools across the UK. The e-Mentoring programme pairs medical school applicants (mentees) with current medical students (mentors). Mentors then help students throughout their application to medical school, which can include personal statement review, UKCAT tips, interview advice and more! The programme is aimed to help increase the chances of getting an offer. Students can sign up to be paired with a mentor here

Access UCL is a scheme for students from groups that are underrepresented at UCL. Eligible students who successfully complete the Access UCL scheme may receive a reduced offer of up to two grades below the standard UCL offer for the programme of study they have applied for.
