There are 5 content areas in camp. Each content area has guides assigned to them that stay in that content area for the entire day!
They have many responsibilities in that content area which include:
Distribute, organize, clean up supplies in the content room
Support content coordinator/activity counselor in any capacity needed that benefits camp
Swimming: Maintain proper ratios in pool, enforcing pool rules
Sports: Ensure participants are hydrated
Keep track of time
Communicate time changes to rest of team
Engage with participants as directed by your GC
Take them to restroom, nurse
Content Areas Cheat Sheet
Participants will aim to understand different parts of their identity and the identity of those around them through small group discussions (one counselor, five participants)
An activity that encourages participants to try new mediums of art and expression each day (e.g. learning a new form of art everyday, while understanding its origins)
Experience a variety of conventional sports to encourage participants to tryout for or take part in at school or externally
Opportunity to get comfortable in the water and build aquatic skills, while also gaining self-esteem and stepping out of their comfort zone. (“Splash” is an alternative if there is no access to a pool)
Focused on building one particular skill or learning about a topic they may not have previous exposure to (e.g. the science of health and foods; ceramics; theater)
