Welcome to my website for JES Music,

Due to the small number of students in the Jenkintown schools, I am a part-time member of the faculty.  

I spend two days a week teaching the youngest members of our community (K-3) the foundations of music. 

 We sing, dance, and play instruments to develop our understanding of the fundamentals of melody and rhythm.  The repertoire is built first and foremost to help the children express themselves through music.  We begin Kindergarten with a strong focus on play and building a trusting, joyful environment where we can each freely express ourselves through music.  First grade is spent solidifying the child's use of their singing voice as well as the steady beat.  In second grade, we begin to read music notation and play classroom instruments based on written music. In third grade,  the students expand their reading of musical notation and study musical and theatrical performing groups.
