Public Figure

INTERFACE: Public Figure was a collaboration between John Toenjes and Chad Michael Hall, developed in workshops at the University of California-Irvine and the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and then performed publicly by Multiplex Dance Theater of Los Angeles California. Created for K-12 audiences, this evening-length work by Chad Michael Hall and John Toenjes commandeers Facebook and Twitter and incorporates audiences' smartphones via the proprietary LAIT app, to explore the dynamics of social media through Hall's unique brand of "Cyberdance Theater."

Public Figure was the first work to incorporate LAIT into the planning of the work from the ground up, and as such, was a valuable stepping stone to the development of our next works, INTERFACE: Critical Mass and INTERFACE: Alternate Reality.
