How has your participation in CORE 3.0 helped you to better prepare to support your colleagues to use technology to support student learning?
I have a better understanding of the apps on the iPad and have already incorporated some of them into my classroom. Therefore, I am confident I can show other colleagues how to use them in a user friendly way.
I love being able to talk about new features to try to enhance lessons for the students.
Having to use each application gave me the knowledge to understand which app might fit what the teacher wants to achieve in their classroom.
It has put more options into my “tool bag” to be able to give colleagues more support and options. It has also helped me to create varying ways to assess students using technology instead of paper and pencil where they can “show what they know.”
I have been able to learn more about technology integration and have had time to experience the apps first hand. By sharing different projects with each other, it helps come up with ways to actually use it in the classroom.
It gave me the time to explore and create apps that I can use in my class. Now that I am more comfortable with some of them I feel more confident encouraging others to use them and have some ideas to share.
I have learned so much about making technology accessible to students. As I learn and try new things with my own students I am better able to encourage and help other teachers incorporate tech into their classrooms.
have learned and applied multiple apps to my daily instruction as well as integrated technology use with students. I am able to recommend apps as well as assist in technology projects colleagues would like to apply to support student learning.
I feel the opportunities to go through the class and create projects allows me to help teachers and students regardless of their tech comfort level.
Learning the apps independently and then learning the types of groups that our colleagues would possibly fall into…like staycationer…adventurerer…etc. and then try to come up with ways to offer support without overwhelming was a great way to prepare us to support colleagues in the future. Also learning about SAMR as a way to think of taking a task and trying to move it up a level is alway helpful when supporting colleagues.
I really liked the discussion boards and the way you both started out each session. To see what everyone was having their students create was very eye opening. By seeing these ideas and for every subject has been very helpful in thinking about different ways the technology can be used in so many different settings. I think it will be much easier to come up with ideas to support lots of different people with different types of students.
Yes, I have had many conversations with my colleagues around me about the new use of iPads and the apps in our classrooms since we started this process back in January.
Learning and becoming familiar with the apps and technology has given me the confidence to help others and integrate these into my classroom.
Through this program I was introduced to a bunch of new applications and saw how teachers used them in different subject areas. In doing this I feel that I could better assist teachers outside of my content area with project ideas.
I have felt more capable of finding solutions for problems via the tech route. Even if my execution isn’t perfect, I’ve enjoyed the process and discovering something new each time I work with an app. I think that my flexibility and willingness to learn and grow has helped my colleagues see that the goal is progress, not perfection.
CORE 3.0 has encouraged me to continue to look at creative ways to incorporate iPads into classroom projects and activities. As I become more comfortable with the apps on the devices, I am encouraging a greater variety of projects for students to utilize to demonstrate learning. The product differentiation has become even more of a focus in my lesson planning.
