The JPS New Teacher Academy (NTA) is a year-long professional learning experience designed to support educators as they navigate their first year in Jackson Public Schools. Through quarterly learning sessions, practical resources, collaboration, and reflection, new teachers strengthen their instructional practice, build confidence, develop meaningful professional connections, and receive continued support throughout the school year.
The transition into a new school district—and for many participants, into the teaching profession—comes with both exciting opportunities and new challenges. The New Teacher Academy provides intentional support beyond initial orientation by bringing new teachers together throughout the year to learn, reflect, collaborate, and problem-solve around the experiences they are encountering in their classrooms.
Sessions are designed to be timely and practical, providing support that aligns with where teachers are in the school year.
The New Teacher Academy is designed for newly hired teachers who are beginning their journey with JPS. Participants engage in a series of professional learning experiences throughout the school year that complement the support they receive from their school leaders, instructional teams, and mentors.
